9 Days Buddhist Sector Pilgrimage Tour Package

Day 01: Varanasi – Famous Evening Ganga Aarti
Arrive at Varanasi Airport/Railway Station and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Spend some time relaxing. In the evening, witness the famous Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, a captivating ceremony that embodies the spiritual essence of Varanasi. Optionally, you can experience this spectacle from a boat (at your own cost). Afterward, return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 02: Varanasi – Morning Boat Ride – Sarnath – Light & Sound Show
Begin your day early with the spiritual experience of Subah-e-Banaras, enjoying a serene boat ride along the Ganges during sunrise. Explore the various ghats of Varanasi, each with its unique significance. Return to the hotel for breakfast.

Afterward, visit Sarnath, where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon at Deer Park. Explore the Buddha Temples, Chaukhandi Stupa, Mulagandh Kuti Vihara, and the Archaeological Museum. In the evening, attend the Light and Sound Show at Dhamekha Stupa. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Varanasi.

Day 03: Varanasi – Bodhgaya (300 km / 6 Hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Bodhgaya, one of the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage destinations. Check into your hotel upon arrival. Visit the Mahabodhi Temple and the sacred Bodhi Tree, where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. Explore the surrounding sites before heading back to your hotel for an overnight stay in Bodhgaya.

Day 04: Bodhgaya – Dungeshwari Cave Temples – Sujata Village – Meditation Session
After breakfast, visit the Dungeshwari Cave Temples, also known as Mahakala Caves, where Buddha meditated before reaching Bodhgaya. Then, visit Sujata Village, which holds historical significance in Buddha's journey. Return to Bodhgaya for a half-day meditation session at one of the Buddhist monasteries. Enjoy a peaceful overnight stay in Bodhgaya.

Day 05: Bodhgaya – Rajgir – Nalanda – Patna (190 km / 4 Hrs)
After breakfast, travel to Rajgir, the ancient capital of Magadha and a significant site in Buddhist history. Visit the Vishwa Shanti Stupa on Ratnagiri Hill, which features statues of Buddha at various stages of his life. Explore Griddhakuta (Vulture Peak), Venuvanaram, and Bimbisar Prison. After lunch, proceed to Nalanda to visit the ruins of Nalanda University and the Xuan Zang Memorial Hall. Continue your journey to Patna, where you'll stay overnight.

Day 06: Patna – Vaishali – Kesaria – Kushinagar (430 km / 9 Hrs)
After breakfast, depart for Kushinagar, stopping en route to visit Vaishali, where Lord Buddha delivered his final sermon. Explore key sites in Vaishali, including the Ashokan Pillar, Ananda Stupa, and Buddha Stupas. Continue to Kesaria to visit the largest ancient Buddhist stupa, Kesaria Stupa. Arrive in Kushinagar by evening for an overnight stay.

Day 07: Kushinagar – Mahaparinirvana Temple – Lumbini (180 km / 4 Hrs)
After breakfast, visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple, where Lord Buddha took his last breath, and the Rambhar Stupa, his cremation site. Also, visit the Japan Temple. Afterward, drive to Lumbini in Nepal, the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama (Lord Buddha). After checking into your hotel, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Lumbini.

Day 08: Lumbini – Birthplace of Siddhartha – Kapilvastu – Shravasti (295 km / 6.5 Hrs)
After breakfast, visit the Maya Devi Temple and other significant sites in Lumbini, such as the Eternal Peace Flame and Lumbini Museum. Then, drive to Kapilvastu, the childhood home of Lord Buddha. Explore the Tilaurakot Museum and Kapilvastu Kingdom Complex before proceeding to Shravasti. Check into your hotel in Shravasti for an overnight stay.

Day 09: Shravasti – Saheth & Maheth – Lucknow (180 km / 4 Hrs)
After breakfast, visit Saheth, the site of Jetavana Monastery, and Maheth, where the ruins of ancient Shravasti lie. Explore other important Buddhist sites such as the Ananda Bodhi Tree, Angulimala's Stupa, and Anathapindika Stupa. Later, drive to Lucknow and transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward journey.
